Weekly Homeschool Report + Friday Link ♥

A nice productive week with two fun afternoons with friends thrown in made for a great week!

Math, spelling, and reading were completed every morning. We started Sequential Spelling two weeks ago and so far Celeste really enjoys it. I had used this curriculum with Adrienne and Andre, it was a nice simple but effective curriculum to use.

With writing, we are continuing our work through Brave Writer, slowly and with a few freewrites throughout the week. She is slowly enjoying the process and it's nice to see her progress.

We played a few games of Story Cubes on Wednesday, our "word games day". We did miss Poetry Tea Time this week because our friends came over. Lots of fun outside in the snow was worth it!

In science, we worked on a research project on Aquarius the constellation.

In history, we read more about Medieval towns and traders. Celeste baked two loaves of bread, the "medieval times" way, kneading the dough by hand and shaping the loaves by hand as well. She did a wonderful job and was very proud of herself.

We read about the building of cathedrals during that time period, as well as medieval art.

We volunteered at the public library. We both are enjoying the experience very much and look forward to our weekly time there. Celeste in particular loves selecting books for displays and for the staff picks shelf.

Last week, she chose Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies, she loved this series and discovered it through Brave Writer Arrow program. This week she found one of her favourite cookbooks, Cook It Together by Annabel Karmel

Here are a few of our favourite links this week:

Stories of the Zodiac (Dot to Dot in the Sky) A book we are enjoying very much!

Crash Course now has an Introduction to Astronomy!

♥

♥ I've been LOVING 30 days of yoga with Adriene (not my daughter, same name minus 1 n!)...the daily videos are on YouTube if you want to check it out. I was very new at yoga at the start of this year, and loving it now.

That is all for this week! Have a great weekend!

I am linking this post to the weekly wrap-up hosted by Unsocialized Homeschoolers.
